Equipment used to film Male's solo Scene.

This images shows the different types of effects that can be created using lights and beams. the stronger the beam the more light on the scene . we were trying to create a autumn type lighting.











                                                                                                                                                                    

This image shows example of effects that can be used for the lighting. together as a group we decided to use shutters to change the atmosphere of the scene. for example a grey or brown shutter helps to set a scene of warmth and calmness.

These are the different equipments in the theatre that we used to create the right lighting and effect that we wanted for the male solo scene.

As we were unable , and had no permission to operate the equipment in the theatre we had to get the technicians to help us out with creating the right atmosphere for the scene.

This was our first idea of how the scene should look like for set one of the video aka male solo scene which was in theatre. as we firstly didnt have access to all the lighting in theatre and did not have much knowlegde on creating the atmosphere that we wanted for the set , we started with a black background and the nuetral lighting that was accesible in the theatre. We also used the props that we did to try create a sort of vintage look.

Luckily during the shooting we managed to get the theatre co-ordinator and they managed to get th elights working and provide some more props to use for the scene.

This video I think had the most influence towards our own video , this is because we really liked and appreciated the way the video was edited and its use of mise en scene to build a warm feeling for the audience.

This is another song that interested us simply because we were all fans of the artist and liked the tones of her voice and the music video's that are created for her songs.

Analysis of Beautiful- Eminem

This video is mainly a performance video because it doesn’t have a storyline that
the audience can follow we just see Eminem singing in different empty deserted
locations. Throughout the video its pretty dark and dull with the few natural light
appearances this just signifies a bit of hope and shows there is a way out of all
this struggle.

The mise en scene in this video is very stereotypical of a normal hip hop/ rap
song for example the hats and hoodies and graffiti on the wall. Also Eminem has
a tattoo and this can signify his state of mind and show he is an imaginative
person. When you look closely at his tattoos you can see that they are also black
and don’t have colour in them either. This connotes a lot about the artist in the
song and it shows he has very low self esteem.
While watching this video I have also noticed that when he sings he looks at the
floor and puts his head down.

This shows that there is a pathway of light and hope and giving up is not the thing to do. This can connote to many audiences that Eminem is facing the world alone, he is fighting for hope and not letting life in general take him down. And also in the background there is a red stop sign which connotes danger and it does not give off a good vibe to the audience. This sign also relates to the lyrics as they are depressing and don’t give off a good vibe.

In the whole video this is one of the parts that has the most lighting, while watching this whole video I have noticed when there is full beam light Eminem is hard to see but when there is limited light he stands out and is really clear. I think this could have a double meaning because some could say that life is taking over and he has just given up or some could say that his mind is widening and showing some
hope for him throughout the video.

This video does not use much colour at all its sticks with mainly dark colours such as black. In this shot Eminem looks like a shadow this has worked really well due to the fact even though he is seen as depressed and down in life he really stands out and with the natural light shining in it connotes he is trapped inside.

This shot shows how they are reconstructing the building which can be linked to Eminem in the way he is trying to rebuild his feelings and emotion. It still focuses a lot on the building rather than the builders with the use of mid shot. I feel it does this because it still wants the audience to draw their attention to the graffiti on the walls and scruffy empty chairs left outside. This links to the song because he is depressed and the locations the audiences are shown are also very depressing to look at. This helps the audience to relate to Eminem and feel apart of
the song.

Many of the shots in this video are long shots and the reason I think this is, is to connote to the audience that Eminem is so tiny and the worlds just taking over. This signifies his position in the world and shows how depressed he is. This shot is really empty and it signifies his state of mind and emotion. There is not much use of lighting apart from the natural light shining in and this connotes how dark and empty his world and life is.
